So my new blogger friend over at Real Talk On The Cypher’s Den (http://cyphersdenblog.com/2016/02/25/liebster-award/) has nominated me for the Liebster award! I’m still pretty new to this so I will explain it as best I can.
The Liebster Award
The award is an online recognition from one blogger to another. If you are nominated, as a new blogger, this would be a great way to not only network with other bloggers but build up your blog roll and help others become more familiar with your blog. The award is passed around and the idea is to answer random questions given to you by the person who nominated you. Once completed, you have to nominate more people to pass on the award!
I’ll be honest I was a bit nervous when I got it but after looking through it, it’s actually really fun! I was given some questions to answer. So without further adieu…
1.What prompted you to start blogging?
Ok, this is a good one. So I decided to start my blog Writings Of A Single Girl because over the years I find people (both men & women) treat you differently when you’re single, say things to you etc. I wanted to share my thoughts on the whole thing and also my experiences (which some of them are so weird you couldn’t make it up) I actually started the idea two years ago but started dating someone and stopped because I thought “well, I can’t write about being single now” and guess what, that ended as quick as it started. I kick myself for wasting those two years.
2.What was the last movie you watched, that made you cry?
Ok I basically only watch horror. If I’m going to watch something that makes you cry I need to mentally prepare myself haha. I re watched The Notebook last year, that always gets me going! Oh, actually I watched the kids film Home with my niece on the weekend and cried at the end!! Ha. (This is why I stick to horrors)
3.Do you prefer going out or staying inside after a long work week?
Ooh, this one really depends on how tired I am ha. But I think I feel if I haven’t gone out and done something the weekend, whether it’s a night out or a trip to the museum or a park, it’s a wasted weekend.
4.What is your favorite post that you have written thus far?
Hmmm Ok I’m going to pick 2. This first one is about when I got stood up. Ok I get that my blog is anonymous so I can pretty much write whatever I want but I felt great talking about this because yes, it is an embarrassing story but I’ve gotten over it.
I also took part recently in a Friday Fiction with Ronovan and got such great feedback. I feel really proud so I want to share that one too.
5.Do you think fish cry?
Yes, how else do you think we have oceans?
6. If you could get away with performing one illegal act, what would it be and why?
I’m such a nerd when it comes to following rules and stuff. Oh God, I actually can’t think of anything…
7.What is your favorite drink?
Alcoholic- Probably Corona or most cocktails if I’m feelin’ fanncccyyy. Non-alcoholic- Mc Donald’s Mocha Frappes.
8.What do you love most about where you live?
Eh, so I live in a town about ten minutes from where I grew up. I live there, I do not work or socialise there so I will give you a reason why I still love the town where I grew up (apart from because I grew up there and am familiar with it). My town has great programmes for kids more specifically teens. There is a lot for them to do and even though there is anti social behaviour & crime (like a lot of areas) the area has a great community spirit.
9.Summer or Winter?
Summer. The sun. Sun tan. Days at the park or beach. (Although I love the build up to Christmas)
10.Top 3 people you would invite to dinner, whether dead or alive?
Britney Spears because she was (is) my childhood idol. Emma Watson because she is my favourite feminist. And for the year that’s in it Countess Markievicz from the 1916 Easter Rising (if you’re not in Ireland feel free to google it) because how amazing would that dinner conversation be.
11.Name your dream destination
Although I want to visit America (all of it..someday) the first place that popped into my head was Australia. A lot of Irish have emigrated to Canada and Australia and even though I could never do that and leave my family, I really want to go on a holiday there but because of the distance you would need to go for at least a month to make it worth the journey.
Ok guys, so I hope you enjoyed reading my answers as much as I enjoyed answering them. I hope I’ve done this right, the nominees I have chosen are:
